It provides acost-effective way of dealing with non-violent, low-risk offenders, whichreduces jail costs, while providing needed services to community non-profitorganizations. A total of 315 community service cases were received in 2011.Judicial Diversion...is a screening process that allows our legal system to place selectedoffenders with an alternate disposition. This initiative allows offenders to earnsentencing opportunities, which holds them accountable for their actions withthe court while ensuring that the victims of the offense maintain involvementwith the eventual outcome.Bail Evaluation/RUS Program...is a screening and supervision program for those defendants who may not beable to post bail or the court desires to release under supervision status. Thepopulation covered includes jail pre-trial detainees and those appearingdirectly before the court. The focus of the program is to have the defendantreappear for his/her next court appearance, remain law-abiding in thecommunity and participate in treatment when so directed by the court. A totalof 433 bail evaluations were conducted in 2011.DWI/CD Program...is designed to provide a meaningful intervention for selected DWI chargedoffenders. Requirements of the program focus on a certified alcoholevaluation, treatment follow up, random alcohol testing, etc. The supervisionperiod is for 12 months. If successful, defendants have their DWI chargesreduced to DWAI or for very high BAC levels, a “no jail, no probation”outcome. 190 new participants were received in 2011, making the totalparticipants for this program 291.
