Updates in this book include:v Additional material in Chapter 1, “<strong>Planning</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Administration</strong> Overview,” onpage 3, Chapter 2, “Configuring Your System,” on page 23, <strong>and</strong> Chapter 5,“Defining I/O Devices,” on page 45 to reflect the new HCD support. While theoriginal comm<strong>and</strong>-based dynamic I/O configuration capabilities of z/<strong>VM</strong> are stillvalid, the use of HCM <strong>and</strong> HCD is incompatible with those comm<strong>and</strong>s. Youshould choose one method or the other <strong>and</strong> stay with it for the duration of anygiven IPL of your z/<strong>VM</strong> system.v A new system configuration file statement, IODF, which indicates that HCD willbe used to control the I/O hardware <strong>and</strong>/or software configuration.
