DIRECTORYDIRECTORY Directory Control Statement (Control)►► DIRectory vdev devtype volidaltvdevEDITnnnnnn-xxxxsysafnid►◄PurposeThe DIRECTORY statement defines to <strong>CP</strong> the device on which you have allocatedspace for the directory. (This device must also be a <strong>CP</strong>-owned volume.) If yoursystem is part of a multisystem complex, a DIRECTORY statement is required foreach logical system.How to SpecifyThe DIRECTORY statements must be the first statements in your source directoryor control DIRMPART file (cluster format directory). DIRECTORY statements are notallowed within a profile entry.If you specify the EDIT option on a DIRECTORY statement, that statement must:v Be the last DIRECTORY statement in the source directoryv Immediately follow another DIRECTORY statementv Be the only DIRECTORY statement with an EDIT option in the source directory.If any of these conditions is not met, an error message is issued.If you are sharing a single source directory among several systems, allDIRECTORY statements must be listed at the beginning of the source directory <strong>and</strong>before any other control statements.When processing the DIRECTORY statement, DIRECTXA checks for a maximum ofsix tokens: virtual device number, device type, volume serial number, alternatedevice number or the EDIT oper<strong>and</strong>, the processor ID, <strong>and</strong> a system ID, in thatorder. If you specify more than six tokens, DIRECTXA ignores the extra tokens <strong>and</strong>system processing continues as if you had not specified the extra tokens.Oper<strong>and</strong>svdevis the virtual device number of the device that is to contain the object directory.devtypeis the device type. Valid device types are:3380 3390 9336 FB-512480 z/<strong>VM</strong>: <strong>CP</strong> <strong>Planning</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Administration</strong>FB-512 is a generic value which may be used in place of specific FBA devicetypes. A 3390 in 3380 track compatibility mode must be coded as 3380. Ifmultiple DIRECTORY statements are used, the device types do not have to bethe same.volidis the volume serial number of the directory volume. The variable volid is a 1- to6-character alphanumeric string.
