In addition, there are proposed four further round tours, whose starting- <strong>and</strong> destination<br />
points are situated in the cities Eisenach, Gotha, Mühlberg <strong>and</strong> Apolda. See the following<br />

All in all, the bicycle route along the VIA REGIA corridor features a length of 8 stages (4<br />
offer components <strong>and</strong> 4 alternativ round tours). These are described more detailed in the<br />
following sections.<br />
Stage allocation for bicycle routs<br />
Some parts of the proposed offer components run along the long-distance cycling trail<br />
<strong>Thuringian</strong> <strong>city</strong> cluster, the Werratal-cycling trail, as well as the Ilmtal-cycling trail. This route<br />
leads through Thuringia´s areas of outst<strong>and</strong>ing natural beauty, which are also characterized<br />
by their rich history with respect to the VIA REGIA. Tourists interested in <strong>culture</strong> can<br />
discover lovingly renovated historic old towns, medieval flair, or modern architecture in the<br />
cities located along the cycling trails. Intermediate stops offer a perfect opportunity to visit<br />
various sights (castles <strong>and</strong> palaces, cultural institutions, museums, historic monuments).<br />
