The railway station of Vieselbach (1) is actually, due to its size, not suitable as location for
a sign-posting. However, the peculiarity of the spitting distance to the bicycle route VIA
REGIA, the ecumenical pilgrims´ path, and the historical course of the VIA REGIA make
information sign-postings worth considering at this place (see picture documentation, image
43).
The railway station Oßmannstedt (2) distinguishes itself for its convenient location to
major points of interest (Schloss Kromsdorf, Schloss Tiefurt, and Wielandgut Oßmannstedt).
Furthermore, the planned bicycle route VIA REGIA leads straight through this town on the
Ilmtal-cycling trail. There´s already been placed an „information booth“ with details about the
topic bicycle excursions and hiking tours (see picture documentation, image 44). This one
might also be integrated into the VIA REGIA sign-posting.
It would be very reasonable to equip the railway station Apolda (3) with information signpostings,
since it provides a very good passenger frequentation and train timing. The railway
station Apolda serves as a suitable starting point for the exploration of the sights in town
(see picture documentation, image 45). Another advantage is given by the immediate
connection to the Ilmtal-cycling trail and thus to the bicycle route VIA REGIA (as well to the
alternative bicycle route over the Napoleon-cycling trail to Jena and further on along the
Saale-cycling trail to the Castle of Dornburg).
