She is also involved intheatre and her worked with D. R. Ankurand Ramgopal Bajaj.This sound-engineer turned filmmakerworked with B R <strong>Film</strong>s for 22 long yearsas the chief sound recording engineer forDeewar, Kabhi Kabhi, Laawaris, Shaanand hundreds others during his tenurewith B R <strong>Film</strong>s. Later, he started makingfilms in a number <strong>of</strong> languages includingHindi, Marathi and Bhojpuri. He has alsoproduced numerous documentaries andtelevision serials.A prominent television figure during thelate 80s and 90s, Rama Vij was a familiarface in popular serials like Nukkad,Manoranjan, Katha Sagar, Rishtey andCircus. She has also worked with filmdirectors like B. R. Chopra, Syed Mirza,Kundan Shah, Hrishikesh Mukherjeeand Mammohan Singh. Acclaimed forher roles in the National Award-winningPunjabi film, Chan Pardesi and Kachehri,she has also acted in Hindi, Punjabi,Bhojpuri and English films.4 SARYU V DOSHI5APURWA YAGNIKA Padma Shri recipient and distinguishedart historian, curator & scholar SaryuV Doshi, has been a visiting pr<strong>of</strong>essorat University <strong>of</strong> Pune, University <strong>of</strong>Berkeley and University <strong>of</strong> Michigan.Her keen interest cinema, theatre, danceand photography eventually led her to theOrder <strong>of</strong> Star from the Italian Governmentand an award for her life-time contributionto promotion and popularisation <strong>of</strong> Indianarts and culture by the Arts Society <strong>of</strong>India.Apurwa Yagnik, an FTII graduate, is theeditor <strong>of</strong> Damul, Katha, Rukhsat andMeri Kahani. After working in Mumbaifor some time, she left for her hometown,Jaipur. There she came across communitybasedorganisations like The BarefootCollege, for whom she made numerousdocumentaries. She also made a threefilmsset, Village Voices, that chroniclethe lives <strong>of</strong> the people in Rajasthanivillages. She arranges film festivals andconducts workshops in various villages inRajasthan.
