Parade In Your Pants 2012 –
this year it’s personal!
Family fundraising days
O
ver 37,400 men will be diagnosed with
a male-specifi c cancer in 2012. From
sons to grandfathers, all men face the risk
of prostate, penile or testicular cancer.
Orchid plays a leading role in the fi ght
against male cancer and a local Bedford
man and his family raise funds for this
worthy cause in quite a unique and fun
way.
In 2009, Adrian Course was given the
devastating news that he had developed
testicular cancer. After supporting
Adrian through the diffi culties of
diagnosis, treatment and recovery, his
wife, Lisa and sister, Julia decided to do
‘One for the Lads’ and fundraise for Orchid Cancer.
Positive outcome
Lisa told us ‘’We wanted to do our bit in the fi ght
against the disease and help not only the men
aff ected but also their families. Luckily, Adrian’s
outcome was a positive one thanks to the excellent
treatment and support available from Orchid and
our local services but it aff ected us as a family and.
we want to support the fi ght against the disease.’
Parade in Your Pants is an event where men complete
a 5 mile sponsored walk in their pants with pubs en
route! It is now in its’ third year and the team has
got even bigger so the annual Fundraising Day on
September 23rd at Kempston Hammers promises to
be a good one!
Julia said ‘In the fi rst two years, we have raised a
fantastic £19,000 for Orchid Cancer and this year,
with the help of our wonderful participants and
helpers, we want to add to this amount! Th is time,
we want YOU to design your own pants to run, walk
or pub crawl in! It doesn’t have
to be just your pants you can be
creative with – personalise your
entire outfi t and prizes will be
awarded! Th e shy men out there
can just wear their normal clothes
or your shorts over your trousers –
anything goes!’
And it’s not just the walk, the
Adrian Course
Fun Day will be on from 2pm to
5pm to keep the rest of the family
entertained followed by an early disco and raffl e in
the evening! Please join in and help to raise awareness
and funds for a fantastic cause! Not to mention
having a lot of fun along the way!
