CHARITY EVENT<br />

n its 11th year, Memory Walk is Alzheimer’s<br />

Society’s biggest annual fundraiser. <strong>Bedford</strong>’s<br />

Memory Walk will take place on Sunday<br />

16 September 2012. Th e walk is suitable for all ages<br />

and takes place at Priory County Park, starting at<br />

10.30am. Both routes –1.5 or 8 miles – are traffi c free.<br />

With entertainment and refreshments, it will be a<br />

family day to remember.<br />

More than 4,500 people in <strong>Bedford</strong>shire live with<br />

dementia and money raised from the walk will help<br />

fund vital services for them and their carers including<br />

support groups, drop-in centres, allotment projects ,<br />

home visits and ‘music for memory’ sessions.<br />

Sarah Russell, Development Worker, Alzheimer’s<br />

Society, <strong>Bedford</strong>, said: “Families, friends, colleagues<br />

and individuals can walk together to raise money to<br />

help local people with dementia. A special thanks to<br />

Mayor Dave Hodgson and Richard Fuller MP for being<br />

amongst the fi rst to sign up for this year’s 8-mile route.<br />

I hope many more <strong>Bedford</strong>ians take up the challenge.”<br />

Registration is free and you will receive a welcome<br />

pack through the post with more details and<br />

information. Th e organisers hope that each walker<br />

can raise an average of £50.<br />
