n its 11th year, Memory Walk is Alzheimer’s
Society’s biggest annual fundraiser. Bedford’s
Memory Walk will take place on Sunday
16 September 2012. Th e walk is suitable for all ages
and takes place at Priory County Park, starting at
10.30am. Both routes –1.5 or 8 miles – are traffi c free.
With entertainment and refreshments, it will be a
family day to remember.
More than 4,500 people in Bedfordshire live with
dementia and money raised from the walk will help
fund vital services for them and their carers including
support groups, drop-in centres, allotment projects ,
home visits and ‘music for memory’ sessions.
Sarah Russell, Development Worker, Alzheimer’s
Society, Bedford, said: “Families, friends, colleagues
and individuals can walk together to raise money to
help local people with dementia. A special thanks to
Mayor Dave Hodgson and Richard Fuller MP for being
amongst the fi rst to sign up for this year’s 8-mile route.
I hope many more Bedfordians take up the challenge.”
Registration is free and you will receive a welcome
pack through the post with more details and
information. Th e organisers hope that each walker
can raise an average of £50.
