THE NAVY LEAGUE OF CANADABY-LAWS.05 A Branch President who has served three or four consecutive terms may be electedPresident again after leaving the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> president for one year or more.6.7 VICE-PRESIDENTBranch Vice-Presidents shall be elected for a term <strong>of</strong> one year. If there are more than one, thesenior Branch Vice-President shall act or speak for the Branch President in his or her absence.6.8 BRANCH SECRETARY<strong>The</strong> Branch Secretary, or Secretary-Treasurer, shall perform the duties assigned to that <strong>of</strong>fice bythe Branch Council. Without limiting the generality <strong>of</strong> the foregoing, the Secretary shall:(a) Attend, act as recording secretary for, and maintain the minutes <strong>of</strong>, all meetings <strong>of</strong> theBranch and the Branch Council;(b)(c)Supervise the custody <strong>of</strong> all Branch records, documents and correspondence; and,Maintain current lists <strong>of</strong>:(i)All members <strong>of</strong> the Branch;(ii) All Warranted <strong>Navy</strong> <strong>League</strong> Cadet Officers and Cadet Instructors in theBranch and their dates <strong>of</strong> appointment; and,(iii) All Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps (Canadian Forces Cadet InstructorCadre) Officers and Civilian Instructors in the Branch.6.9 BRANCH TREASURER<strong>The</strong> Branch Treasurer, or Secretary-Treasurer shall perform the duties assigned by the BranchCouncil, including:(a) Take charge <strong>of</strong>, be accountable for, and generally supervise all funds, books <strong>of</strong>account, financial records, securities and property <strong>of</strong> the Branch;(b) Ensure that an accurate account <strong>of</strong> all receipts and disbursements <strong>of</strong> Branch funds ismaintained; and,(c) Annually, propose a budget for the following fiscal year, and, upon approval <strong>of</strong> thebudget, ensure that expenditures are monitored and kept in line with the approved budget.6.10 BRANCH OFFICE<strong>The</strong> Branch Council may establish and maintain a Branch <strong>of</strong>fice.NL(18)E – 7 Feb 2012 33
