2013-2014 <strong>Silver</strong> <strong>Lake</strong> Guide Book41Music in the Park is justone <strong>of</strong> the many activities<strong>Silver</strong> <strong>Lake</strong> has to <strong>of</strong>fer, andit is a six-week event knownas a “prelude” to the infamous<strong>Silver</strong> <strong>Lake</strong> Pola-Czesky Days, the town’scelebration <strong>of</strong> Polish andCzechoslovakian heritage.Music in the Park startson the Thursday evening,six weeks before Pola-Czesky Days, and continueseach Thursday evening untilMusic in the ParkPola-Czesky Days begins.<strong>The</strong> event is held at theLegion Park in <strong>Silver</strong> <strong>Lake</strong>,and is organized by volunteers,Ray and Sharon Bandasand DeNeil and LisaThompson.<strong>The</strong> couples book bandsfor each evening, and organizationsserve a meal eachThursday before the musicbegins.Music ranges from oldtimepolka music to the“Big Band” sound <strong>of</strong> the1950s.Several businesses, organizations,and individualsalso donate prizes for theevent, and nearly 75 winnersare drawn each week.<strong>The</strong> event is free andopen to the public. So bringyour friends, a few lawnchairs, and come enjoy ahot meal and some goodmusic!
