anybody Professor Beverley <strong>Skeggs</strong> graciously agreed to work<strong>with</strong> two groups. The two groups each met seven times betweenFebruary and June 2007. All participants were invited to submitan essay which should relate to either the writings of ProfessorBeverley <strong>Skeggs</strong> or to some of the themes or scientific problemsthat we discussed during the workshop.In the end, <strong>Thinking</strong> <strong>with</strong> Beverley <strong>Skeggs</strong> developed intoa collection of nine short contributions, written by scholars/researchers from six different disciplines, all active in the fieldof Gender Studies. Dag Balkmar explores masculinity, shameand driving in his piece ‘Drive-by Shaming: Reflections on theEmotions of (Dangerous) Car Driving’. Elias le Grand usesthe concept of class in his article ‘Renewing Class Theory?Exploitation, Individualization and Culture’. Carina Ljungvaldanalyses the Swedish Social Services Act in ‘A Focus on Victimsof Crime in Social Work: Why and for Whom?’. Thaïs Machado-Borges discusses cosmetic surgery in Brazil in her article entitled‘The Production of Bodies’. Ulrika Nilsson examines psychiatricnarratives in ‘Emotional Archives and Body Politics: Towardsan Analysis of Early Lobotomy Praxis in Sweden (1944-45)’.Susanne Nylund Skog investigates Swedish Jewishness in herarticle “In Persia I was called ‘The Blonde’’: Looks as a Wayto Analyse How Jews in Sweden Practice Whiteness’. AnnikaOlsson reflects on the academy in her piece entitled ‘Thoughtson Being a Respectable Homo Academicus’.
