The Speakeasy programme is in place <strong>for</strong> parents <strong>and</strong>carers to acquire <strong>the</strong> confidence <strong>and</strong> skills <strong>the</strong>y need to talk to <strong>the</strong>ir children about sex <strong>and</strong>sexuality.Private, voluntary <strong>and</strong> independent sectorThe development of <strong>the</strong> Southampton <strong>Children</strong> & <strong>Young</strong> People’s Alliance has ensured coordinatedsector engagement <strong>and</strong> support which is improving outcomes <strong>for</strong> children <strong>and</strong> youngpeople.Southampton Voluntary Services has launched <strong>the</strong> only local voluntary sector recruitment websitein partnership with charityJOB, <strong>the</strong> busiest <strong>and</strong> most popular specialist charity jobsite.A “Retaining your staff starts with recruiting <strong>the</strong> right staff” event was held in 2008 <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> sector,orrganised in partnership with <strong>the</strong> private sector.Training <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> sector has included safer recruitment, basic safeguarding children awareness,disability awareness, common assessment framework awareness training <strong>and</strong> awareness raisingof <strong>the</strong> new ISA Vetting & Barring scheme.Multiagency work<strong>for</strong>ce developmentJoint commissioning <strong>and</strong> work<strong>for</strong>ce development arrangements have been streng<strong>the</strong>ned by <strong>the</strong>appointment of joint funded strategic management roles across <strong>the</strong> Primary Care Trust <strong>and</strong> LocalAuthority.
