BubblersBubblers are designed to apply a large amount of water to a small area in ashort period of time. The bubbler delivers water to the area immediatelyaround the head (umbrella bubbler), or is sprayed in thick streams a shortdistance from the bubbler (stream bubbler). Because of this high flow rateand close spacing requirements, bubblers are restricted to small, confined, level areas. Bubblers operate over a pressure range of 1 to 90 PSI and maybe used on most types of plant material with the exception of turf.SprinklerTypeBubbler - Floodor StreamBubbler -PressureCompensatingTypicalUsesSmall, levelareas withperimetercontainment.Small, levelareas where alower flow rateor pressurecompensatingis neededGeneralCharacteristics Advantages DisadvantagesHeads provide a largevolume of water in asmall area to “flood”plant material basins.Heads provide a loweramount of water in asmall area directly toplant basins.Provides a largequantity of water in ashort period of time.Reduces runoff. Lowerflow rate allows waterto be absorbed intosoil. Pressurecompensating featuremaintains even flowVery high flow ratewill result in run-off ifthe area isn’t level andthe water isn’tcontained.Lower flow raterequires longer runtimes.
