APPENDICES 76Appendix JUSB / Serial Adapter GuidelinesThe optional USB Serial Adapter converts a PC’s USB port into a 9-pin RS-232 serial port, suitablefor connecting a <strong>GER</strong> <strong>1500</strong> to a Windows PC.Instructions1. Install included USB/Serial software on your PC computer, from the CD provided by the USB/Serial devicemanufacturer.2. Plug the USB Serial Adapter into your PC computer’s USB port.3. Connect the USB Serial Adapter to the 3-meter communications cable.4. Turn on power on the <strong>GER</strong> <strong>1500</strong>.5. Attach the 3-meter communications cable to the COM2 port of the <strong>GER</strong> <strong>1500</strong>.6. You are now ready to take measurements. Refer to Section 3 – Operation - subsection 3.
