WVUT-HDWVUT-HD is <strong>Vincennes</strong> <strong>University</strong>’s PBS affiliate serving Southwestern Indiana andSoutheastern Illinois through the combined efforts of staff and students. Students areinvolved daily in all operations of the station.A daily 30 minute newscast is produced by students and staff. This newscast isbroadcast live at 5:00 pm and re-broadcast at 11:30 pm. This newscast has beenpresented with a Spectrum Award for Best TV Newscast in the non-commercial TVcategory, by the Indiana Broadcasters Association. Students anchor the news, sports, andweather; shoot and edit stories; switch and direct; and operate all equipment necessaryfor the production. WVUT-HD is the first public digital television station to go on-air inIndiana, broadcasting a high definition and standard definition schedule daily on HD1 andHD2. Studio and remote productions are in broadcast high definition.WVUT also produces “22 Magazine,” a public affairs magazine program. Students workin production crew positions as studio camera operators, Chyron graphics operators,TelePrompTer operators, audio operators, video recorder operators, and photographersshooting high definition B-roll video. WVUT operates an HD channel for PBSprogramming, and a separate SD channel with programming for PBS Create and theIndiana Channel.19
