RemotesA variety of radio and television remotes are produced with students each year,ranging from men’s and women’s college basketball, political debates, electionreturns and Meet Your Legislator, to the Miss Vincennes University ScholarshipProgram (winner of the Indiana Public Broadcasting “Best Performance Award”), andthe VU Commencement ceremony.These major remotes utilize a 4-5 camera High Definition remote production fly-awaypackage, which WVUT utilizes for major remotes. Studios are also located in the RedSkelton Performing Arts Theater and the Vincennes University basketball complex.23
MultimediaThe Multimedia Communications program at Vincennes University is designed toprepare students for successful entry into the career field of their choice. Multimediais the creative union of graphics, animation, audio, video, and text, used to produce aninformative, eye-catching, audio-visual computer based presentation. Students willcombine artistic ability with technical proficiency to design and create multimediaproducts.Students will work on skills that can be adapted to fit a variety of situations. With thecontinuing changes in technology and the business world, people with the flexibilityof multiple skill areas are more likely to make progress in their careers. Students willtake a series of skill building courses needed to effectively operate in a computermedia environment. They will take a set of core courses that includes audio-videoproduction, photography, web page development, graphic design, computer aidedpublishing, multimedia production, and broadcast writing.Students will choose one area of emphasis from the five emphasis areas offered tocompliment the core skill courses and provide expertise in a specific career area. The fiveareas to choose from include Graphic Design, Marketing/Advertising, Electronic Media/Broadcasting, Music-Audio Recording, and Computer Web Technology. Each emphasisarea has required courses to build specific skills and knowledge.At Vincennes University, we firmly believe in the value of hands-on, real worldexperience for students. The Multimedia Communications program is a time intensivecourse of study. An internship or capstone project is required for all MultimediaCommunication majors. We stress the importance of good job habits and developing astrong personal presentation so students can get where they want to go in their careers.24
