Project design <strong>and</strong> deliveryInputsThe project received £153,667 funding through <strong>the</strong> Big Lottery Well-being fund. Additional inputsinto <strong>the</strong> kitchen £10000 for capital costs from <strong>the</strong> Community at Heart New Deal for <strong>the</strong>Communities Health <strong>and</strong> Wellbeing project at inception <strong>and</strong> £20000 from for WeHLC for rental,management, utility <strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice costs. Money is raised from kitchen rental <strong>and</strong> training deliveryincluding on <strong>the</strong> Extended School Partnership Working projects locally.ActivitiesThere are a range <strong>of</strong> activities that have been supported by this project. The ‘Chat café’ is a weeklycafé open to all residents, users <strong>and</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essionals at lunch time. It <strong>of</strong>fers reasonably priced drinks,s<strong>and</strong>wiches, as well as soup <strong>and</strong> a main meal. To attract pr<strong>of</strong>essionals in <strong>the</strong> WeHLC to use <strong>the</strong> café,since <strong>the</strong>ir lunchtimes are so varied, <strong>the</strong>y are able to pre-book <strong>the</strong>ir lunch <strong>and</strong> an outside crèchefacility supports parents.The project worker has undertaken considerable outreach work, for example, to an over 50’s groupby using a portable cooker top. This has helped <strong>the</strong> worker to develop cooking skills in a wider range<strong>of</strong> settings <strong>and</strong> to also promote activities available at <strong>the</strong> WeHLC <strong>and</strong> in <strong>the</strong> kitchen. During <strong>the</strong> earlystages <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> project outreach was undertaken through largely pr<strong>of</strong>essional networks to promote155 SWWB Final Evaluation Report
