<strong>Waggener</strong> Alumni Necrology and Family Obituaries:Jacqueline McLean JOHNSON (61) & Judith Summers Johnson (60)Hazel Jacqueline McLeanMCLEAN, HAZEL JACQUELINE, 87, of Louisville, died Tuesday, September 27, 2005, at Baptist Hospital East. Shewas a native of Macon, GA, and moved to Louisville in 1924. She was a retired secretary from Brown-Forman and coownerJacque's store in Middletown. She was chairman of the first American CancerSociety's "Jefferson County Mother's March on Cancer" in 1956. She was a longtime volunteer driver for the AmericanRed Cross motor corps, and one of five "all purpose volunteers" when it was located on S. Third Street, and later a volunteercanteen worker at St. Matthews Blood Center. She was also Woman's golf champion of the "18 holes" at Crescent HillGolf Course, past president of the Younger Woman's Club of Louisville and the Women's Club of Louisville, former boardmember of the Louisville Deaf Oral <strong>School</strong>, past president of the Christian Women's Fellowship of Beargrass ChristianChurch, where she was a Deacon, a member of the Prayer Club and Round Robin Sunday <strong>School</strong> Class. She was an electionofficer for many years, where she worked at the Polls at Crosby Middle <strong>School</strong> and Middletown Christian Church. Sheworked many years with a group of Woman's Club members counting money and checking pledges after the Crusade ForChildren ended. She enjoyed writing letters to the Courier-Journal's Readers' Forum and gleefully called herself a"published author" when they were run. Mrs. McLean graduated from J.M. Atherton <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> for Girls, received anAA Degree from Chevy Chase Junior College, Washington, DC, and attended University of Louisville, where she was initiatedinto Pi Beta Phi, she also appeared in UofL plays under the direction of the renown Boyd Martin. "It has been a wonderful,exciting , oft-times bumpy life. My thanks to God for the opportunity to have known such interesting -possibly exasperatingat times- people and experiences! Till we meet again". She was predeceased by her parents, "Mr. Mac" and HazelKirkpatrick McLean, her brother, Les, and her sister, Gladys Monroe. Survivors include her twin daughters, Jacque andJudi Johnson; granddaughter, Cindi Fields (Lee); great-grandson, Peyton Cuzzart; great-granddaughter, Ellie Fields; manynieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, whom all lived out of state; and her faithful cat, Maybell. A gravesideservice will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the L.A. McLean family plot in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7p.m. Thursday at Pearson's, 149 Breckeridge Lane.
