<strong>Waggener</strong> Alumni Necrology and Family Obituaries:Robert Ling (60)Courier-Journal, October 2, 2003Dr. Ji-toong Ling, 87, of Louisville, died at his home on Tuesday, September 30, 2003, from cancer.Dr. Ling was a former chairman of the radiology department at the University of Louisville's <strong>School</strong> of Medicine.Starting as an instructor in 1953, he retired as professor emeritus in 1989. He was also on staff at Norton SouthwestHospital from 1977 to 1999.Dr. Ling received his bachelor and medical degrees from St. John's University in Shanghai, China, where he wasborn in 1916. He immigrated to the US in 1947 to pursue a graduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania, followedby two fellowships at the University of Cincinnati (OH).Dr. Ling was a member of The University Club and The Jefferson Club and had served for many years as a boardmember of Crane House, the Asia Institute in Louisville. An enthusiastic supporter of the U of L Cardinals' AthleticFund , he subscribed to season basketball and football tickets for 35 straight years.His wife of 61 years, Lydia Tsai Ling, died in 2002.He is survived by two sons, Bob, of New York, NY, and David of Raleigh, NC; a daughter, Lucie Campbell of Potomac,MD; two brothers; John of Flushing, NY, and Raymond of Clarksville, IN; and four grandchildren.His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 2501 Rudy Lane, with burial inCave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday and 5-8 p.m. Monday at Pearson's, 149 BreckenridgeLn.The family requests that any memorial donations be made to Crane House, 1244 South St., Louisville, KY 40203.
