FIMS Media SOA Framework Phase1 (Preliminary)This type extends BMBaseObjectType and provides a simple mechanism to give visibility to tracks inside acontent essence. Tracks are used to expose to the FIMS framework structural metadata for content streamsembedded inside a physical content essence. Examples of tracks are audio and video streams inside anaudiovisual content essence. Tracks have a type (for example video, audio, data, closed captioning) and areference to a format. Tracks have also an id, and optional descriptions and metadata, inherited from theBMBaseObjectType.8.2.2.1.1.3.6.1.1 ParametersParameter Type DescriptionType BMObjectType The type of the track (e.g. "video"), as defined inTrackCategoryType.formatRef FormatRefType A reference to the content format ID for the essence. Thisvalue shall be set for tracks of type "video" or "audio".8.2.2.1.2 BMObjectTypeThis type provides, together with the BMBaseContentType, a mechanism to describe a document folder modeland content relationships model which allow complex content services such as content repositories tointeroperate. The BMObjectType extends the BMBaseType and inherits its properties (id, description andmetadata). This type has been designed to provide additional structural information to the content maintaininginteroperability and transparency for services that are just operating on a list of content essence items. Forexample, an asset retrieved from a repository can have a set of video files, which can then be provided to atransfer service using the list of bmContent items. In this simple scenario, the transfer service does not need tobe exposed to the structural data represented in the BMObjectType.8.2.2.1.2.1 ParametersParameter Type DescriptionbmFolder BMFolderType A set of logical folder elements, which can be used togroup content. A bmFolder can contain other foldersand/or content.bmContentRef BMContentRefType A set of content references, providing the referenceto the content essence.8.2.2.1.2.2 Related TypesPrivate committee documentWorking Draft for review by FIMS Rev v1, Nov-16-2010 Page 55 of 89
