Data SheetT/FSFrost Protection ThermostatT/FS Frost Protection ThermostatDescriptionCapillary thermostat suitable for the prevention of freezing ofliquid filled heat exchangers or pipes, and similar applications.Switching action is responsive to the lowest temperature alongthe sensing element. IP54 (NEMA 3) housing with tamper-proofcover.Features• 6 metre (6.5 yds) capillary• Manual or automatic reset option• Adjustment range -10 °C to +12°C (14 °F to 54 °F)• IP54 (NEMA 3) housing• Integral mounting bracketPhysical120 mm (4.72”)60 mm (2.36”)Manual Reset Button(T/FS-M option)Temperature Setpointindicator130 mm (5.12”)6 m (6.5 yds)Capillary (suppliedcoiled)ø 6 mm(0.24”)70 mm (2.76”)Cable glandACC/FC5 mm (0.2”)50.5 mm (1.99”)130 mm (5.12”)50.4 mm (1.98”)T/FS Frost Protection Thermostat Data Sheet 91-2777 Issue 2 03/04/081

T/FSData SheetINSTALLATION(1) Mount frost stat in a reasonably clean location, free fromdamp and condensation, using mounting bracket supplied(120 mm, 4.72” fixing centres).(2) Install the complete length of the element so that it spansthe face area of the heat exchanger, as shown in thediagram, so that it is exposed to all areas where lowtemperatures are likely to be encountered.Thermostat Element DuctTemperature of thermostat bodymust be greater thantemperature setting pointThe element is usually installed on the downstream sideof the heat exchanger and must be fixed in a verticalplane. The capillary has to be positioned with a large bendradius, never less than 25 mm (~1”). It is recomended touse the fixing clips (ACC/FC).The T/FS has a 250 Vac, 15 A switching capacity. It should beincorporated directly into the Air Handling Unit Control circuits toprotect heating and cooling exchanges and ductwork fabricAlternatively, the T/FS can be used to provide an input to the IQsystem controller to initiate a frost protection control strategy. If the capillary is damaged with a leak of gas the frost statsimulates a low temperature and sets the switch accordingly.Typical Mounting Arrangement2 T/FS Frost Protection Thermostat Data Sheet 91-2777 Issue 2 03/04/08

Data SheetT/FSCONNECTIONSNote that the room temperature at the thermostat body should not fall below the setting point.(1) Remove anti-tamper screw on top of face, and undoscrew on front of unit and remove front cover.digital inputchannel(2) Insert cable through cable gland and connect signalwires to terminals as shown. The unit can be wirednormally open or normally closed.(3) Adjust setting levels to required temperature set-pointusing screw on top of unit. 5 °C to 7 °C (41 °F to 44.6 °F)is recommended.(4) Replace cover and fit tamper-proof top cover.Note: Ensure cover is screwed shut and cable gland is properlytightened to guarentee IP54 protection.T/FSNCCNOredbluewhiteredbluedigital inputchannelredblueIQ1 or IQ2COMINIQ30(0V)N(In)+(24V)NT/FS switch shown in‘warm’ state(Examples of IQ connection to normally open contact)DISPOSALWEEE Directive :At the end of their useful life the packaging andproduct should be disposed of by a suitablerecycling centre.Do not dispose of with normal household waste.Do not burn.ORDER CODEST/FS-M: Frost protection thermostat with manual resetT/FS-A: Frost protection thermostat with automatic resetACC/FC: Set of 6 fixing clipsT/FS Frost Protection Thermostat Data Sheet 91-2777 Issue 2 03/04/083
