04-2007 3P0200-XX2. Product DescriptionRexnord-Stephan geared motors conforming to Directive 94/9/EGThe experiences collected over decade-long use in hazardous atmosphere also entered into the dimensioning anddesign according to the new ATEX directives. The following components were taken into account based on thisexperience:llllllShrink-fit ring covers according to the standardAll bolts are secured against automatic loosening and protected against rustStainless steel nameplatesProven shaft seals at input and output shaftHigh-quality lubricantsOil-level control for all sizes2.5.4 Type of protection for motorsMotors to Directive 94/9/EG for use with gasThe ATEX motors used by Rexnord are manufactured by a well-known German manufacturer. The EN 50014standard is the basis for the approval. Supplementary standards specify the measures of how an ignition is prevented.Flameproof enclosure to EN 50018, type of protection "d"Motors of this type of enclosure can be used for mains operation and inverter operation in zone 1. Motors withflame-proof enclosure can only be combined with the Rexnord gear unit in lantern version.Increased safety to EN 50019, type of protection "e"The basis of this type of enclosure is avoiding high temperatures at the surface and in the inside during normaloperation and in case of a fault, such as a blocked rotor with applied supply voltage. Motors to EN 50019 can beused in zone 1 with mains operation.Protection through non-sparking equipment to EN 50021, type of protection "n"The motor design ensures that no gases are ignited during normal operation. A malfunction is not taken intoaccount. Motors to "n" can be used in zone 2 with mains operation.Motors to Directive 94/9/EG for use with dustThe EN 50281-1 standard serves as the basis for the approval of motors in an explosive dust-gas atmosphere. The decisive factor consists of meeting certain criteria against the intrusion of foreign particles in accordance withEN 60259 IP types of enclosure. Motors of category 3 require at least type of enclosure IP54 and category 2 typeof enclosure IP6x.Dust-proof motors to EN50281-1-1, type of enclosure IP65Design measures prevent any dust from entering into the inside of the motor. The surface temperature under normaloperating conditions does not cause an ignition of dust deposits. A protection in case of faults is ensuredthrough temperature monitoring. These motors correspond to category 2D and can be used in zone 21 and 22with mains operation.Dust-protected motors to EN50281-1-1, type of enclosure IP55In this case, dust cannot enter the motor in dangerous quantities. Only the surface temperature represents an ignitionrisk and, for this reason, must be protected with temperature sensors. These motors are certified to category3D and can be used for mains operation in zone 22. For inverter operation, Rexnord can perform a correspondingacceptance with the selected inverter.S16
