Faculty Meetings—we assess <strong>program</strong> objectives and outcomes twice yearly at the start of eachlong semester of the academic year (fall and spring).College and <strong>University</strong> Planning—we participate in the strategic planning processes of both theuniversity and college where we obtain insight into the directions that these entities are takingtowards fulfillment or change of their mission statements.2.4 (d) System of on-going evaluation2.4.1 Assessment instrumentsAssessment of the <strong>program</strong> objectives for the electrical engineering undergraduate <strong>program</strong> is performedby analysis of two main instruments:1) Employer surveys performed once a year designed to see how well we meet our objectives andto find out how our students compare with students from other universities. The survey is doneby phone. A sample of what is asked in our survey is shown in Appendix D. This survey wasimplemented in the Spring of 2006 following the attendance of the chair at an ABET Workshopsponsored by the <strong>Electrical</strong> and Computer <strong>Engineering</strong> Department Heads Association(ECEDHA) in New Orleans in March 2005. At that workshop it was determined that alumnisurveys (at the time the primary instrument) alone were insufficient comment on the success orfailure of the <strong>program</strong> to meet objectives.
