as they have met the above high school requirements and general admission requirements to LamarUniversity, then they are eligible for admission into the EE program in the Lower Division. If a transfer student comes from another university, that student will need their transfer creditsevaluated. This is handled by the University’s Transcript Evaluator. Credit for non-equivalent courses isdecided by the appropriate teaching department chair. A written record of acceptance of this credit isretained in the student’s records in the departmental files and a copy is sent with the final degree planwhen the student applies for graduation. The person responsible for a program may assign directequivalent credit for a non-equivalent course by examining further evidence such as course syllabi, textsand student’s knowledge of the content of a particular course. This allows students to transfer into the EEprogram and not lose credits for courses taken outside Lamar University. The tables below show the distribution of students in the program in terms of transfer, advancing and thetotals for the 2005 academic year to include the summer sessions.Transfer StudentsPeriod *External **Internal TotalsSpring, 2005 7 5 12Summer I, 2005 0 1 1Summer II, 2005 0 4 4Fall, 2005 9 3 1216 13 29*External – From other universities **Internal – From other colleges at LamarAdvancement of StudentsFrom Lower Division (PREE) to Upper Division (EE)PeriodAdvancementsSpring, 2005 9Summer I, 2005 0Summer II, 2005 6Fall, 2005 520Students in Electrical Engineering ProgramPeriod *PREE **EE TotalsSpring, 2005 118 56 174Fall, 2005 112 47 159*Lower Division **Upper Division (Juniors and Seniors)As of the beginning of the Spring 2006 semester, there are 49 (junior and senior) students in theElectrical Engineering Program.EE Program Self-Study Report-2006 7
