JULY, 1968 459Brahmacharini ashram is certainly a greatnecessity because there are so many girldevotees who are attached to our KrishnaConsciousness movement. Those who aremarried couple, there is nothing to besaid-simply to live together as husbandand wife. But those who are not marriedcertainly such Brahmacharies andBrahmacharinis should not live together.That is a special restricted term of ourcult. But because in your country there isno distinction between boys and girls, orman and woman, they can freely mixwithout any restriction, I did not give toomuch stricture on this point because bysuch stricture they might be annoyed, andwhatever Krishna Consciousness they aretrying to develope might have beenchecked. But factually if you can organizea Brahmacharini ashram, it will be verynice idea. And I think that our Jadurany orsimilar other girl students of a little bit advanced,they can manage such ashram.But there is another difficulty, that whenthe girls live together they will pick upquarrels. Anyway, that sort of quarrelingwill continue whenever there is a little bitindividuality. That is the nature. Evensuch quarreling is visible in the spiritualworld also. But the main thing is that inBoston, you are the only earning member.How you will maintain such a Brahmachariniashram separately unless there issome source of income. I expected thatthe pictures painted by the Brahmachariniswould be a source of income tothe society. If some arrangement for suchsales organization can be made, then itwill be a very excellent idea. The Brahmachariniscannot go, of course, for begging,but if some of them agree to go outand sell our books and literature, that willalso be helpful. Some source of income byhonest endeavor must be there, otherwise,how a nice Brahmacharini ashramcan be maintained? In the ashram we mustsupply all inmates necessary nutritiousfood. Especially in your country, becausethey were accustomed to take meat andsome protein food, just like regular supplyof dahl, chopaties, rice, fruits andmilk, must be properly administered.There is no need of eating more than necessity,but the minimum demands mustbe supplied. But if you can organize suchnice Brahmacharini ashram it will be agreat success of our society. There is agreat need for this. And I wish sincerelythat except for husband and wife, everyoneshould live separately, man separatefrom woman, and woman separate fromman. I shall be glad to hear from youabout further developments. But onething can be very nicely utilized, if theBrahmacharinis learn typographic machine.That will be a great help becauseprinting is one of our most important lineof activities.
