Bond the new owner of Aegen Gill askingpermission (in addition to his application laid before the last Meeting) (1) to put dams in the stream passing throughhis property in order to raise the level of the stream and divert it through a water garden he proposes to constructand (2) to carry the overflow from a spring on the Forest on the North West Side of his property by a pipe into hisgarden; and that he (the Clerk) forwarded the application to the Forest Row Committee. The Forest Row Committee present the following report which is read and it is Resolved that it be entered on theMinutes viz:-The Committee met on the 27th of July 1914 at Forest Row.Present. Mr. Freshfield and Mr. Martin. Colonel Needham and Mr. Midgley were unable to be present by reason ofabsence from home.Bond W.C. damming StreamA letter dated the 7th inst from Mr. Bond was read and the plan therein referred to considered. The Committeeproceeded to look at the stream mentioned in the letter and at that part where it flows from the Golf Club cottagesto Aegen Gill.It appeared from Mr. Bond’s letter that, if he carried out the scheme proposed the result would be to increase thedepth of the water in the stream from when it enters Aegen Gill to, as far as the first footbridge above the propertyand probably to as far as the second footbridge. It therefore seemed to the Committee that to allow this might be a cause of some inconvenience and complaint.23Ashdown Forest Historical Minute Book
