delayed by Military work and weather in carrying out the repairs, and he promised that he will do the work andremove all the materials in a very short time.At the request of the Board Mr. Martin under takes <strong>to</strong> keep observation on the spot and report <strong>to</strong> the next meetingwhether Mr. Waters has carried out his promises.Military telephone Tompsetts BankThe Committee also report that early in June last an application was received from the Post Master General for theconsent of the Board <strong>to</strong> the erection of three telephone posts on the <strong>Forest</strong> at Tompsetts Bank which were urgentlyrequired for the use of the Military, and by their direction the Clerk signed the consent and wrote <strong>to</strong> the SectionalEngineer pointing out that on the strong representations of the Conserva<strong>to</strong>rs the lines across the <strong>Forest</strong> are carriedunderground, but that as it was unders<strong>to</strong>od that the proposed line was a matter of military exigency, not likely <strong>to</strong> berequired when peace is res<strong>to</strong>red, he was authorised <strong>to</strong> give a consent.It is Resolved that the action of the <strong>Forest</strong> Row Committee be approved and confirmed.R.A.F. Golf Club mo<strong>to</strong>r road in<strong>to</strong> premisesA letter is read dated the 22nd June last from the R.A.F. Golf Club asking permission <strong>to</strong> extend the existing privateroad <strong>to</strong> the Club House <strong>to</strong> the south west boundary of the Club premises, so that mo<strong>to</strong>rs cars might be driven in,instead of waiting on the <strong>Forest</strong>. Also a further letter dated the 27th instant from Mr. Ewan Frazer enclosing a planof the proposed extension.The Board having considered the application and plan it is Resolved that they be referred <strong>to</strong> the <strong>Forest</strong> RowCommittee with power <strong>to</strong> act and in the event of their approving the proposed, or any modification thereof that theClerk be authorised <strong>to</strong> sign a revocable licence on the usual terms and providing for the payment of a yearlyacknowledgement of 10/- the cost of the licence <strong>to</strong> be borne by the Club.Holly Cottages drainageThe <strong>Forest</strong> Row Committee report that since the last meeting the Rural District Council arranged with the ownersof Holly Cottages <strong>to</strong> lay a drain <strong>to</strong> connect their properties with the public sewer, the owners contributing one thirdof the cost, (this is confirmed by Mr. James Card) but that, owning <strong>to</strong> the war, provision cannot at present be madefor the expenditure and the work has, therefore, <strong>to</strong> stand over. Meanwhile the ditch has been cleaned out.It is Resolved that until such time as the drainage is carried out, Ranger Brown do see that the ditch is kept properlycleansed.Luxford, Mr. Job application <strong>to</strong> cart materialsA letter is read dated the 28th last from Mr. Job Luxford stating that Mr. Samuel White of S<strong>to</strong>nehouse Farm, whohas purchased a plot of land from Mrs. Reed adjoining the Holly Cottages, has instructed him <strong>to</strong> erect a cottagethereon and applying for permission (1) <strong>to</strong> cart building materials <strong>to</strong> the land from Post Horn Lane over the carttrack used for carting materials for the erection of Holly Cottages and shown on a plan which accompanied hisletter, and (2) <strong>to</strong> take the empty carts back by an old disused track marked ‘a’ on the plan <strong>to</strong> Quabrook Gate, nowused by the Military. The <strong>Forest</strong> Row Committee recommend that the application be granted on condition that Mr.Luxford undertakes, after the work is finished <strong>to</strong> fill up the ruts and res<strong>to</strong>re the surface of the first mentioned cart<strong>to</strong> the satisfaction of the <strong>Forest</strong> Ranger and that he use the old track marked ‘a’ for empty carts only and that onlyin dry weather.It is Resolved that the recommendations of the Committee be approved and the Clerk inform Mr. Luxford thereof,and obtain an undertaking from him <strong>to</strong> comply with the conditions land down.The Maresfield Committee present the following report which is read and it is Resolved that it be entered on theminutes namely:-The Committee met at Fairwarp on July 6th 1915.Present.
