During <strong>2007</strong>, 110 local organisations were helped with a total donationof £25,000.Financial support is an important part of our commitment to our local communities and ourcustomers. We contribute both as a Company and as individuals through a variety of schemes.<strong>Admiral</strong> sponsored Champion Child of Courage AwardCustard pie throwing for charityEnvironmentThe <strong>Group</strong>’s impact on <strong>the</strong> environment stems from its use of resources to run its offices inCardiff and Swansea and its communications with customers. In addition, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Group</strong> now hasoperations in Spain, Germany and will launch in Italy later in 2008. It also operates a call centrein Halifax, Canada, which employs over 100 staff. The <strong>Group</strong> does not own <strong>the</strong> properties that itoccupies and is, <strong>the</strong>refore, reliant upon <strong>the</strong> cooperation of <strong>the</strong> managing agents of <strong>the</strong> propertiesto make changes that could reduce <strong>the</strong> consumption of energy and water. The figures quotedfor energy use do not yet include overseas properties but travel to and from <strong>the</strong>se businessesis included within <strong>the</strong> figures quoted in <strong>the</strong> table below. In 2008 <strong>report</strong>ing will be included bycountry.The <strong>Group</strong> Company Secretary is responsible for <strong>the</strong> <strong>Group</strong>’s approach to its impact upon <strong>the</strong>environment and during <strong>2007</strong> steps were taken to ensure that systems were put in place tocollect <strong>the</strong> information necessary to <strong>report</strong> fully on <strong>the</strong> <strong>Group</strong>’s UK operations.· Raising and maintaining staff awareness of, and ensuring that employees are actively engagedin, activities to reduce <strong>the</strong> impact of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Group</strong>’s operations on <strong>the</strong> environment.· Measuring, monitoring and <strong>report</strong>ing on <strong>the</strong> key aspects of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Group</strong>’s environmentalperformance and regularly reviewing progress to reduce <strong>the</strong> amount of resources consumedper employee.· Reporting key environmental performance indicators, taking into account <strong>the</strong> ABI’sGuidelines on Responsible Investment Disclosure and guidance provided by <strong>the</strong> Departmentfor Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).
