We recently had a rare twofold opportunityto visit 3 of these mines: the Pala Chief, the Oceanview andthe Stewart Lithia, located near the town of Pala, in San DiegoCounty. We went underground with a field trip organized by the2011 GIA Symposium, and also spent a day fee-digging <strong>for</strong> gemsat one of the mines. During this power-point slide presentaonyou will see a virtual photo tour of these mines and share thestories of the mine owners. We’ll then discuss our fee-dig dayat the Oceanview Mine, hunng <strong>for</strong> Tourmalines and Kunzite,and in<strong>for</strong>m you of how to make a reservaon.
