PHYSICAL CONTROL IN CARESAFE SYSTEM OF WORKPhysical Control in Care Basic TrainingGeneral1) Only approved techniques contained in the Physical Control inCare Manual will be taught, demonstrated and practised.2) Only qualified Physical Control in Care Instructors will deliver thistraining.3) No Physical Control in Care training will take place without thecorrect amount of Instructors present i.e.• 1 to 16 pupils require a minimum of 2 Instructors.• For each additional 8 or part of, an extra Instructor will berequired4) Before any training session takes place, the Instructor will checkthe following;• That the training area is safe i.e. there are no tears or rips onthe crash mats and it is of adequate size for the numbers beingtrained• The equipment to be used is safe and adequate• The location of the First Aider, if there is not one present in theactual training room• The location of the First Aid Kit, First Aid Room and be awareof local Fire Rules and Muster Points.• All staff will be asked by the instructors if they have a medicalcondition, disease or injury that would prevent them fromparticipating in this training, or that such training would cause© National Offender Management Service National Tactical Response GroupJuly 201051
