O. Box 107,Claytonville, IL 60926815-457-2453 • scmodelworks@illicom.netReviewed by Tom HouleThis transformer urethane resin kit was developed by St.Charles Model Works for substation, industrial plant, and flatcar load use. It’s an excellent beginner project for O Scalerswho haven’t yet tried their hand at a resin kit. This transformerreplicates an Allis Chalmers prototype that dates to thelate 1930’s. I searched of the Internet for prototype pictures ofthis transformer, but was unsuccessful. However, documentationcan be found in two Model Railroader articles, oneauthored by Frank Taylor in the March, 1939, issue and theother by Gordon Odegard in the February, 1955, issue. Photocopiesof both articles are still available for a modest feefrom Model Railroader Customer Service. The St. Charles Model Works kit consists of several urethanecastings; transformer body, transformer base, I-beambraces, cover plate, lift hooks, four brass wire eyes, endblocking timbers, and 0.015” brass wire for the conduits andtie-downs. The urethane parts are easily cut away from theurethane flash with a #11 X-Acto blade or single-edge razorblade.U.S. Army 90 mm M26 “Pershing” Heavy Tank, Late WWII & Korea. All mounted on a42` flat car with chocks, blocks and tie-downs. Flat car has real wood plank deck &die-cast sprung trucks with Kadee couplers.
