For an hour or more,we sat crammed together in the opencourtyard before his home, as our LordlyMaster sweetly conversed and distributedParshad amongst these loving villagerswho received with the undisguisedglee of children. How Master loved oldL .-hna Singh!Master, seeing me sitting unmindfulin the searing heat of the sun, took compassionand called me to sit near Hisside in the cool shade of the veranda.Master told funny stories in Punjabi,which caused everyone to laugh withtheir whole being. Master would chucklein His God intoxicating way; and allwere caught up in that aura of timelessnessand bliss. One could not help butrespect and love Him; as natural as abud opening its petals before life givingrays of the sun. As Master rose to leave,these simple and honest-faced folk boldlyrequested, nay, begged Master to visittheir humble dwellings and give them ablessing to remember for the rest oftheir lives. Do you think He could refusesuch love? Never! He humbly submittedto their devotion, and walked with themup the lane as they surrounded Him,weeping with happiness as He enteredtheir rustic dwellings. Candles would belit as they had no windows, due to theterrific heat, nor had electricity with allof its related marvels reached theirdoors. In each house, the devotees would<strong>May</strong> 1976come before Master, bending low, offeringa plate of sweets or fruit for Him tobless. They were well nigh to explodingwith gratitude! It is no wonder that thesesimple folk go very high in Bhajan, butonly those who are blessed with Hisgrace and not otherwise.For He said, "It is only by seeing awrestler that we are also inspired to becomewrestlers." By seeing the Masterwe become inspired to become as perfect,as masterly, as humble, as loving,as universal as He is. Our love is reciprocalas the plants responding, reachingtowards the sun. "Saints move as theSea of Love. When tides rise in it, evenpeople sitting on the seashore getdrenched. If you want to cultivate love,you must associate with One Who hashad opportunity to come in close contactwith Master-Soul. Then you willboth see and experience great overbearingtides of Love in Their eyes."
