Americans and even Western Europeans continue to visit Egypt and according to<br />

recently released statistics <strong>of</strong> Egyptian tourism Authority, in May 2006 18,935<br />

Americans visited Egypt which was 16.3 % increase over 2005.Moreover, since tourism<br />

is the main growth industry, Egyptian authorities continue to invest massively in<br />

restoration <strong>of</strong> ancient sites, development <strong>of</strong> new resorts and infrastructure all around the<br />

country. (Boom in US Tourism to Egypt, 2005)<br />

INDIA<br />

According to economy watch .com, in year 2004-05 tourism emerged as one <strong>of</strong><br />

the major sectors for growth <strong>of</strong> the Indian economy as well as the foreign exchange<br />

earnings that increased from Rs. 16,429 crore to 21,828 crore up to December 2005.<br />

(Tourism industry in India, n.d) The tourism industry had a growth rate <strong>of</strong> 17.3% in<br />

foreign tourist arrivals, which has been the highest and even foreign exchange earnings<br />

grew at rate <strong>of</strong>30.2%. India has similar tourism patterns like to Pakistan due to having<br />

the same culture and even religion. India has immense tourism reserves ranging from<br />

nature based tourism in the Northern mountains and hill stations, deserts in Rajasthan,<br />

cultural and religious monuments all over the country, Moghul architecture in Delhi and<br />

Agra to beaches <strong>of</strong> Goa and splendid beauty <strong>of</strong> the south. (Tourism industry <strong>of</strong> India, n.d)<br />
