For instance, a 1,000 acre patch <strong>of</strong> forestprovides adequate space for 25 breeding pairs <strong>of</strong> yellow-bellied sapsuckers and red breasted warblers,1 Additional requirements beyond size exist for breeding success for many birds, especially early successionalspecies.11
