Rosa’s Hair Salon
Born and raised
in Winnsboro, Rosa
Wittmeyer is no stranger to
the community. As owner
of Rosa’s Hair Salon in
Ridgeway, many of you
already know her talents.
“After I graduated from
Winnsboro High School,”
Rosa said, “I attended
Roanne Technical College
in Salisbury, North Carolina.
It was there I gained my instructor’s license.”
Rosa moved to Florida for a while and worked on a
platform, which is where people from all over the United
States compete. “It was a fast pace environment,” she said.
She spent twenty five years in Florida before moving back.
After Rosa’s husband passed away, she decided to move
back home. She worked a little over three years with her sisters,
who are also hair stylists. Then she came to Blythewood and
worked five years at Special Effects.
“I decided I wanted to start my own business,” Rosa
said. “So in May of 2005, I opened Rosa’s Hair Salon in
Ridgeway. I am very much a ‘hands-on’ hairdresser. I like to
meet with my clients one on one to be able to determine their
needs and wants. I offer free consultations and encourage
people to bring pictures and show me the style they want. I
recently acquired a new client, Rachel, whose profession is
a model. She came to me with long hair, and I gave here a
modified bob cut. Since then, she’s been offered several jobs.
Now she comes to me all the time- even though she lives in
Columbia.”
Rosa also specializes in hair color. “My formulas for color
are different,” she said. “I mix my own color. That’s why I
completed two years of college. I wanted to learn chemistry
and anatomy so I could know what will work best for my
clients.”
Rosa has three children: Sammy, Tammy and Jamie, ten
grandchildren and one great grandchild. “Although I’ve been
a hairstylist for quite some time, I still know the latest styles,”
she said.
Rosa’s grandson plays baseball in Blythewood, and she
sponsors the Blythewood Baseball teams. “I also support
cancer victims,” Rosa said. “My family has a long history
of cancer, and I understand first hand what the patients and
families go through.”
Rosa is also a Beauty Control Consultant. “There are three
lines of skincare,” she said, “one for twenty and up, one for
thirty and up and one for forty and up.”
Rosa’s Hair Salon is located a few doors down from Town
Hall in Ridgeway at 180 South Dogwood. The shop is open
on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturday mornings.
“I try to reserve Saturdays for my ladies that work late during
the week,” she said. “But walk-ins are always welcome. Gift
certificates are available. With Valentine’s Day just around
the corner, men often like to give their significant other
something to pamper themselves with.”
