in 2007. I remember one
time I went to visit him in
the hospital and he was so
distraught, he had given up.
I tried to cheer him up, but it
didn’t seem to be working.
So on my way home I was
listening to the radio, and a
song by Bo Diddley came
on. I called Jimmy’s hospital
room, put the phone to
the radio, and told him he
couldn’t be sad listening to
Bo Diddley. It cheered him
up for a little while. When
Jimmy passed, the members
of the band were his
pallbearers. We have wanted
to do something in his
memory since he passed.”
Chappell partnered with
Martha Jones, Chairperson
for The Blythewood Cultural
The Bash is being held
in memory of Jimmy
Anderson, member of the
“Sensational Epics”
Arts Association. “Martha
and the Town of Blythewood
assisted in putting together
the first Blythewood Beach
Bash; a benefit to raise
money for the American
Cancer Society in memory
of our friend and band
member, Jimmy Anderson,”
Chappell said. “We hope to
make this a signature event
that will continue annually.
It became a realization to me
that almost everyone I speak
to on a daily basis knew
someone that died from
Cancer. This benefit isn’t just
in memory of Jimmy, it’s for
all of those people who are
suffering with Cancer right
now. With funding, who
knows, maybe one day there
will be a cure.”
The Blythewood Beach
Bash will be on Saturday,
May 23 from 5-10pm at the
lawn of the Hoffman House
(Town Hall) on Langford
Road. “Joe Pinner will be
the emcee,” Chappell said,
“and Hunter Herring has
agreed to DJ from 5-6pm.
The Sensational Epics
will perform Carolina
beach music from 6-10pm.
The town is furnishing a
dance floor, and hot dogs,
hamburgers, soft drinks,
beer, wine and bottled water

have been a voice in the
area for many years. Pinner,
