• Bly<strong>the</strong>wood High School has unveiled its 2009<br />

Bly<strong>the</strong>wood Reads summer reading list with a choice<br />

of 48 books! Check <strong>the</strong> summer reading link on <strong>the</strong><br />

school’s Web page, www.richland2.org/bh for all of <strong>the</strong><br />

details. On <strong>the</strong> website, students can find directions to<br />

sign up for Ning and “chat” about books all summer<br />

online with o<strong>the</strong>r BHS students and teachers.<br />

• Got anything cooking this summer? Put some<br />

sizzle in your days by volunteering a few hours a<br />

month with Regency Hospice. Sit with patients to<br />

relieve caregivers, help with household or yard tasks,<br />

run errands or polish your office skills. Free training,<br />

no medical skill required. Fit your own schedule. For<br />

•The Kershaw County Library is proud to announce<br />

our first “Food for Fines” Month. During <strong>the</strong> month of<br />

May all branches of <strong>the</strong> Kershaw County Library will be<br />

accepting donations of non-perishable food items. For<br />

each item donated, $1.00 in fines will be waived. Donated<br />

items will be given to <strong>the</strong> local Food Pantry of <strong>the</strong><br />

Christian Communities Ministry. Non-perishable items<br />

will be accepted—please no damaged or expired items.<br />

In order for fines to be waived, items must be returned to<br />

<strong>the</strong> library. This promotion applies only to existing fines.<br />

Lost or damaged fees, as well as collection fees will not be<br />

• Lexington County Master Gardener Volunteers are<br />

celebrating Spring 2009 with a Garden Tour of seven gardens<br />

as well as a tour of Carolina Daylilies. The Garden Tour will<br />

be May 29 from 1-6pm, May 30 from 8am-3pm, and May 31<br />

from 1-5pm. Tickets are $20 each and may be purchased at<br />

any of <strong>the</strong> gardens. To order tickets by mail, send your name,<br />
