• The 2009 Northeast Richland Relay For Life will
be held at Blythewood High School on Friday, May 29
to Saturday May 30, 2009, from 6pm to 6am. We are
looking for survivors, caregivers, and teams. Last year

enjoyed this event and their participation was phenomenal.

formation of the Midlands Area Lewy Body Dementia
Support Group for family members and caregivers who

• Blythewood High School has unveiled its 2009
Blythewood Reads summer reading list with a choice
of 48 books! Check the summer reading link on the
school’s Web page, www.richland2.org/bh for all of the
details. On the website, students can find directions to
sign up for Ning and “chat” about books all summer
online with other BHS students and teachers.
• Got anything cooking this summer? Put some
sizzle in your days by volunteering a few hours a
month with Regency Hospice. Sit with patients to
relieve caregivers, help with household or yard tasks,
run errands or polish your office skills. Free training,
no medical skill required. Fit your own schedule. For

•The Kershaw County Library is proud to announce
our first “Food for Fines” Month. During the month of
May all branches of the Kershaw County Library will be
accepting donations of non-perishable food items. For
each item donated, $1.00 in fines will be waived. Donated
items will be given to the local Food Pantry of the
Christian Communities Ministry. Non-perishable items
will be accepted—please no damaged or expired items.
In order for fines to be waived, items must be returned to
the library. This promotion applies only to existing fines.
Lost or damaged fees, as well as collection fees will not be

• Lexington County Master Gardener Volunteers are
celebrating Spring 2009 with a Garden Tour of seven gardens
as well as a tour of Carolina Daylilies. The Garden Tour will
be May 29 from 1-6pm, May 30 from 8am-3pm, and May 31
from 1-5pm. Tickets are $20 each and may be purchased at
any of the gardens. To order tickets by mail, send your name,
