The First Peoples’ Council alsowidely distributes resources to communities asneeded.Presentations and WorkshopsThe First Peoples’ Council shares resources andexpertise and regularly attends regional, provincial,national and international conferences and meetingsrelated to First Nations language, culture, arts,wellness and education.FirstVoices.com TrainingThe FirstVoices.com staff provides training to communityadministrators to ensure that everyone hasthe knowledge to use the FirstVoices website andunderstands what is required to archive their languageonline. These administrators can then applyfor funding to continuously update and add to thearchives of their languages. FirstVoices.com staffalso provides administrators, teachers and websiteusers with ongoing technical support, as well asupdates and training for any technology upgradesto the FirstVoices website.56 Report on the Status of B.C. APPENDIX CLanguage Needs Assessments (LNA)Assessing the status of a language within a communityis an important step in language revitalizationplanning and goal-setting. By completing LNAs,communities assess the status of their languageby identifying resources, resource people, supportand projects in their communities and by identifyinggaps in these areas. Based on these gaps, communitiescan decide on their priorities and set goalsaccordingly. In addition, LNAs help build a strongcase for grant proposals. Proposals are reviewed bya committee of B.C.
