APPENDIX 1 : SMARTFIRE VERIFICATION AND VALIDATION REPORT3.2 Hong Kong Airport CaseThe Hong Kong airport test case involves the Arup Fire "Cabin Concept". This case hasarisen due to a journal paper Prof. Chow [8] that attempts to simulate this case using a zonemodel. The compartment is completely open apart from a ceiling unit. The fire is located onthe floor at the centre of the building. The prescribed fire volume is 1m x 1m x 1m. The firepower is defined by the standard method, i.e., H = 0.188t 2 (kW) (i.e. t squared fire). Thecompartment is 5m(wide) × 5m(long) × 3m(high). The case has been simulated using bothSMARTFIRE and FLOW3D and the six-flux radiation model. Comparisons of modelpredictions at 110 seconds are plotted in Figure 30, Figure 31 and Figure 32.
