BYLAWS OF ROTARY INTERNATIONAL<br />
ARTICLES 1; 2<br />
Article 1 Definitions<br />
As used in the bylaws, unless the context otherwise clearly requires, the words in<br />
this article shall have the following meanings:<br />
1. Board: The Board <strong>of</strong> Directors <strong>of</strong> Rotary International.<br />
2. Club: A Rotary club.<br />
3. Constitutional The Rotary International constitution and bylaws and the<br />
documents: standard Rotary club constitution.<br />
4. E-club: A Rotary club that meets through electronic communications.<br />
5. Governor: The governor <strong>of</strong> a Rotary district.<br />
6. Member: A member, other than an honorary member, <strong>of</strong> a Rotary club.<br />
7. RI: Rotary International.<br />
8. RIBI: The administrative territorial unit <strong>of</strong> Rotary International in<br />
Great Britain and Ireland.<br />
9. Satellite club: A potential club whose members shall also be members <strong>of</strong> the<br />
sponsor club.<br />
10. Year: The twelve-month period which begins on 1 July.<br />
Article 2 Membership in Rotary International<br />
2.010. Application for Membership in RI.<br />
2.020. Locality <strong>of</strong> a Club.<br />
2.030. Locality <strong>of</strong> an E-Club.<br />
2.040. Adoption <strong>of</strong> Standard Rotary Club Constitution by Clubs.<br />
2.050. Smoking.<br />
2.060. Merger <strong>of</strong> Clubs.<br />
2.010. Application for Membership in RI.<br />
A club seeking admission to membership in RI shall apply to the board. The<br />
application shall be accompanied by the admission fee as determined by the board.<br />
The fee shall be in US currency or equivalent currency <strong>of</strong> the country in which the<br />
club is located. Membership shall become effective on the date such application is<br />
approved by the board.<br />
2.010.1. E-Clubs.<br />
The board shall assign each e-club to a district.<br />
2.020. Locality <strong>of</strong> a Club.<br />
A club may be organized in a locality which contains the minimum number <strong>of</strong><br />
classifications for organizing a new club. A club may be organized in the same<br />
locality as one or more existing clubs.<br />
2.030. Locality <strong>of</strong> an E-Club.<br />
The locality <strong>of</strong> an e-club shall be worldwide or as otherwise determined by the club<br />
board.<br />
