6.060.2. Office <strong>of</strong> President-elect.<br />
The person elected as president shall serve as president-elect and member <strong>of</strong><br />
the board in the year following such election. The president-elect shall not be<br />
eligible for selection as vice-president. The president-elect shall serve as president<br />
following a one-year term as president-elect.<br />
6.060.3. Office <strong>of</strong> Director.<br />
The term <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> each director shall begin on 1 July in the year next following<br />
such election.<br />
6.070. Vacancy in the Office <strong>of</strong> President.<br />
In the event <strong>of</strong> a vacancy in the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> president, the vice-president shall<br />
succeed to the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> president and select a new vice-president from among<br />
the remaining members <strong>of</strong> the board. Vacancies on the board shall be filled in<br />
accordance with section 5.080. <strong>of</strong> the bylaws.<br />
6.070.1. Simultaneous Vacancies in the Offices <strong>of</strong> President and Vice-President.<br />
In the event <strong>of</strong> simultaneous vacancies in both the <strong>of</strong>fices <strong>of</strong> president and vicepresident,<br />
the board shall elect from among its members (other than the presidentelect)<br />
a new president who shall then select a new vice-president. Vacancies on the<br />
board shall be filled in accordance with section 5.080. <strong>of</strong> the bylaws.<br />
6.080. Vacancy in the Office <strong>of</strong> President-elect.<br />
6.080.1. Vacancy Prior to Next Convention.<br />
Where the position <strong>of</strong> president-elect becomes vacant prior to the adjournment<br />
<strong>of</strong> the next convention, the nominating committee for president shall select a<br />
new nominee for president for the year during which such president-elect would<br />
have served as president. Such selection shall be made as soon as practicable at<br />
its regularly scheduled meeting or in an emergency meeting <strong>of</strong> the committee. If<br />
such meeting is not practicable, the selection may be made in a ballot-by-mail or by<br />
other rapid means <strong>of</strong> communication.<br />
6.080.2. Filling Vacancy by Nominating Committee <strong>Procedure</strong>.<br />
A nominee for president selected pursuant to sections 11.050. and 11.060. may be<br />
named by the committee to be the new nominee for president. In such cases, the<br />
committee shall select a new nominee for the position <strong>of</strong> president-elect.<br />
6.080.3. Presidential Duties in Filling Vacancies.<br />
The president shall determine the procedure for nominations to fill a vacancy<br />
in the position <strong>of</strong> president-elect. The procedures shall include transmitting the<br />
report <strong>of</strong> the committee to clubs and for nominations by clubs. Such provisions<br />
shall be in harmony with sections 11.060., 11.070., and 11.080. to the extent that<br />
time permits. In the event the proximity <strong>of</strong> the date <strong>of</strong> the vacancy to the convention<br />
does not permit a suitable period <strong>of</strong> time for the report <strong>of</strong> the committee to<br />
be mailed to all clubs and for nomination by clubs <strong>of</strong> challenging candidates in<br />
advance <strong>of</strong> the convention, the general secretary shall give such notice <strong>of</strong> the report<br />
<strong>of</strong> the committee as is reasonably possible and nominations by club delegates <strong>of</strong><br />
challenging candidates on the floor <strong>of</strong> the convention shall be permitted.<br />
