6.130. Compensation <strong>of</strong> Officers.<br />

6.010. Election <strong>of</strong> Officers at Convention.<br />

The <strong>of</strong>ficers to be elected at the annual convention shall be the president, directors,<br />

and governors <strong>of</strong> RI, and the president, vice-president, and honorary treasurer <strong>of</strong><br />

RIBI.<br />

6.020. Selection <strong>of</strong> Vice-President and Treasurer.<br />

The vice-president and treasurer shall be selected by the incoming president at<br />

the board’s first meeting from among the directors serving the second year <strong>of</strong> their<br />

term <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice, each to serve a term <strong>of</strong> one year beginning on 1 July.<br />

6.030. Election and Term <strong>of</strong> General Secretary.<br />

The general secretary shall be elected by the board for a term <strong>of</strong> not more than five<br />

years. The election shall take place by 31 March in the final year <strong>of</strong> the general<br />

secretary’s term. The new term shall commence on 1 July following such election.<br />

The general secretary shall be eligible for re-election.<br />

6.040. Directors Not Eligible for Re-election.<br />

No person who has served a full term as director, as defined in the bylaws or as<br />

determined by the board, may again hold <strong>of</strong>fice as director except as a president or<br />

president-elect.<br />

6.050. Qualifications <strong>of</strong> Officers.<br />

6.050.1. Club Membership.<br />

Each <strong>of</strong>ficer <strong>of</strong> RI shall be a member in good standing <strong>of</strong> a club.<br />

6.050.2. President.<br />

A candidate for the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> president <strong>of</strong> RI shall have served a full term as a<br />

director <strong>of</strong> RI prior to being nominated for such <strong>of</strong>fice except where service for<br />

less than a full term may be determined by the board to satisfy the intent <strong>of</strong> this<br />

provision.<br />

6.050.3. Director.<br />

A candidate for the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> director <strong>of</strong> RI shall have served a full term as a<br />

governor <strong>of</strong> RI prior to being proposed as such candidate (except where service<br />

for less than a full term may be determined by the board to satisfy the intent <strong>of</strong><br />

this provision) with at least three years <strong>of</strong> time having elapsed since service as a<br />

governor. Such candidate shall also have attended at least two institutes and one<br />

convention in the 36-month period prior to being proposed.<br />

6.060. Term <strong>of</strong> Office.<br />

6.060.1. Officers.<br />

The term <strong>of</strong> each <strong>of</strong>ficer shall begin on 1 July following such election except for the<br />

<strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> president, director, and governor. All <strong>of</strong>ficers, except directors, shall serve<br />

for a term <strong>of</strong> one year or until their successors have been duly elected. All directors<br />

shall serve a term <strong>of</strong> two years or until their successors have been duly elected.<br />
