President’s Statement39examinationA total of 403 examinations entries were received from registered students for the examinations conducted in 2011 compared to304 entries in 2010, registering an increase of 32.6%.There were no entries received for the Professional StageExamination, which had revised its syllabus from 2 modulesconsisting of 3 papers each (Module A and Module B) to 4modules of a single paper in the first half of 2011. Studentsunder the transitional arrangements were given exemptions onsubject to subject basis.The number of examination entries received for the variousmodules under the revised MICPA programme had recordedan increase in all the modules. A total of 40 examinationentries were received for the Ethics and Business Applicationmodule after the first batch of students who had registered forthe revised MICPA programme completed the final module inthe first term of 2011 examination.For the year under review, 84 students completed theAdvanced Stage Examination, 44 under the existing MICPAprogramme while another 40 under the revised MICPAprogramme. The students’ performance in the revised MICPAprogramme had achieved a pass rate of between 60% to 80%for the five modules.
