Plan <strong>the</strong> medical store with staging areas <strong>for</strong> preparingshipments (issuing) <strong>and</strong> unloading deliveries (receiving).Separate <strong>the</strong> receiving <strong>and</strong> shipping areas to avoid confusion<strong>and</strong> to enhance efficiency <strong>and</strong> security.If a facility will be repackaging products, plan a separateclean preparation area to conduct <strong>the</strong> repackaging. Try tolocate <strong>the</strong> area close to <strong>the</strong> issuing area.Cold storage: In larger facilities it is more efficient to use coldrooms ra<strong>the</strong>r than numerous refrigerators or freezers (whichgenerate heat).
