An irrepressibly energetic and enthusiastic character, Nicolas’ excitement for the
2010s was plain to see
Nicolas Potel has continued to invest heavily in his new venture and has now
completed his impressive cellars in Beaune. An irrepressibly energetic and enthusiastic
character, Nicolas’ excitement for the 2010s was plain to see even though production
was down by as much as 50% in some vineyards. The wines we tasted were certainly
impressive for their purity of fruit and freshness, a style he described as a cross
between the 1991 vintage, with its excellent depth, and the 2002s with their wonderful
definition and purity of fruit. The 2010s also showed great fluidity and energy,
expressing the qualities of each individual terroir with detailed clarity.
