1960 in Midland Co., Midland, Texas 57 , daughter of William Roberts and Eva Teaff. She was born 18 Nov 1940<br />
in Close City, Garza Co. , Texas 57 .<br />
Notes for Raymond Earl Coldewey:<br />
Raymond was born in Scurry County, in a small community called China Grove. China Grove was located south,<br />
sou<strong>the</strong>ast of Snyder. When he was four years old <strong>the</strong> family moved to a farm 6 1/2 miles north of Loraine, Texas<br />
in Mitchell County. This is where he lived until he graduated from Loraine High School in May 1957.<br />
During Raymond's school years he was active in basketball and tennis. Raymond was also active in <strong>the</strong> band<br />
from <strong>the</strong> 6th grade until he graduated. For 2 years he was <strong>the</strong> Drum Major of <strong>the</strong> Marching band. He was part of<br />
<strong>the</strong> Junior Play and <strong>the</strong> Senior Play. These were activities that his class did to help raise money for <strong>the</strong>ir Senior<br />
trip.<br />
Raymond moved to Midland after graduation from high school and lived with his bro<strong>the</strong>r, while trying to find a<br />
job. His first job was with an auto parts company, Eubanks Auto Parts. He also worked a short time for a<br />
plumbing and air conditioning company as a plumbers helper. Finding it difficult to get ahead and find a job he<br />
liked in Midland, Raymond moved back to Loraine and helped his dad on farm. He also got a job with <strong>the</strong> Texas<br />
Highway Dept on a survey crew. He did this for about a year, and <strong>the</strong>n decided he would try college on his own.<br />
Taking <strong>the</strong> money he had saved, he enrolled in Howard County Jr. College for <strong>the</strong> fall term of 1958. His money<br />
lasted only about 6 weeks, having lots of fun and not saving his money or finding a part time job, Raymond had to<br />
go back to work. He moved back to Midland where he got a job with Southwestern Bell on January 19, 1959.<br />
This is where he met his wife, Fern. She was working for Shell Oil Company in Midland. They married,<br />
November 24, 1960 at <strong>the</strong> First Baptist Church in Midland, Texas. They lived in Midland until Raymond joined<br />
<strong>the</strong> Air Force in October 1961. As it turned out, Raymond & Fern spent 37 weeks in Wichita Falls, Texas, while<br />
Raymond was learning how to repair teletype machines. O<strong>the</strong>r training he received in <strong>the</strong> Air Force, was Cable<br />
Splicing, working on Atlas Missile systems cable to <strong>the</strong> various missile silos around Altus, Oklahoma. Dianne<br />
was born while <strong>the</strong>y were in Altus, Oklahoma.<br />
After being discharged from <strong>the</strong> Air Force in 1965, Raymond went back to work for Southwestern Bell, in<br />
Abilene, Texas. Cynthia was born in Abilene. While in Abilene, Raymond pursued his desire of going to college<br />
and begin going to night school. They lived in Abilene, until <strong>the</strong>y moved to Austin, Texas.<br />
In Austin, Raymond continued to going to college at night, while working during <strong>the</strong> day. Up to this point<br />
Raymond had worked in <strong>the</strong> Sales/Marketing Dept of Southwestern Bell. One of <strong>the</strong> things he liked best while in<br />
Austin, was working on <strong>the</strong> State of Texas Telecommunications. During <strong>the</strong> legislative sessions he and his team<br />
worked in <strong>the</strong> State Capital Building, taking care of <strong>the</strong> State's Telephone requirements.<br />
In 1979, Raymond's job took <strong>the</strong>m to San Antonio, Texas, where he worked in <strong>the</strong> assessment of new hires for <strong>the</strong><br />
