Annie was born in Witting, Texas, and she married Henry on Sept 13, 1906 in Bauerville, Texas. She was
baptized on December 23, 1888 and confirmed March 23, 1902 in the Lutheran Church.
She died while in Tucson, Ariz. where she was visiting Hindenberg. Henry died in 1972. Anna was living
with her son Harry, before her death. Annie was a Lutheran.
Her internment was at Roscoe Cemetery, Roscoe Texas. Funeral services were at the Faith Lutheran Church, in
Sweetwater, Texas
Notes for Henry Coldewey:
Henry had a twin brother who died young. I do not know what his name was.
One of the first families of German descent to settle in Nolan County were Henry and Anna Coldewey. Both of
their parents had immigrated from Germany, arriving by boat in Galveston and settling in and near Columbus,
Texas, and Witting, in Lavaca County, Texas. Henry's parents were Henrich and Helene Coldewey and Anna
Gesine was the child of Heinrich and Anna Ohlenbusch.
Just before Christmas, Henry and Anna moved into their new home that had been built by themselves and Herman
Ohlenbusch. The Coldeweys lived there 10 years (1916), during which children Leonard, Victor (who died when
6 months old), Harry, and twins Hindenburg and Irmgard were born.
In 1916, Henry and Anna sold their farm and moved near Loraine, Mitchell Co., Texas. Anna recalls that the
sandstorms of 1917-1918, were so bad that kerosene lamps had to be lighted in the middle of the afternoons
because it was so dark.
Then in January of 1921, they purchased another farm and moved to Scurry County, south of Hermleigh. It was
while they lived here that another child, Mildred, was born in 1925.
During these years, Henry and Anna and their children attended the Lutheran Church in Loraine, Mitchell Co.,
TX. In the early years, a minister traveled to the church every two weeks and conducted the services in the
afternoon. In 1954, the Coldeweys began attending services in Sweetwater, Nolan Co., TX., at the newly
organized Peace Lutheran Church. In 1967, they became charter members of the Faith Lutheran Church, in
