Eachand every <strong>of</strong> the 328 cars at the HKSPremium Day tracking session wasthere to have a go at Fuji Speedwaywith their precious vehicles.There were all sorts <strong>of</strong> cars present –Ferraris, the Nissan R35 GT-R, SubaruImpreza WRX, Mitsubishi LancerEvolution, Nissan CR-Z, Subaru Legacy,Nissan Fairlady Z and more – and theywere so eager to get onto the track onceit was time for the stipulated owners’session.Since the day president and founderHiroyuki Hasegawa designed and builtthe first aftermarket turbocharger forpassenger cars, HKS went on andbecame one <strong>of</strong> the pioneers in theJapanese aftermarket performanceindustry. They kept innovating anddeveloping new products such as thefirst commercially available electronicturbo timer and boost controller.It all began in 1973 when Hasegawa– former engineer for Yamaha MotorCompany – his partner Kitagawaand Sigma Automotive Co., Ltd whoprovided the start-up capital theyneeded.
