Victim Services CommitteeImpacts of possible new Victim Rights Laws on our Department as purposed by Rep. Dennis Reboletti .Passed out copies of the updated proposal, committee members are going to take this back to theirdepartments for feedback. We will keep an eye on possible changes to the Victims Bill of Rights and howthis will impact Victims and our Departments in the way we work with victims.Any new concerns with Restitution Issues?NoneStatus of Victim Services in your department?NoneWhat is going on in your department?Discussion was had on what our departments are doing to in the areas of victim services and obtainingvictim information for Sentencing Reports.Ideas with training for Spring Conference?In DuPage we conducted Training around the Movie of Sentencing the Victim. There is a DiscussionGuide that is available on line. The Movie is a little over an hour then questions. It is an intense movie.However it gives great insight to how victims are treated in the Criminal Justice System. What helpedthe Victim Joanna Katz and what did not or what made things worse, not only by the system but also byindividuals she encountered. There were also changes made to the Parole System in South Carolina dueto this case.We will see the cost of obtaining a copy of the CD. Then petition IPCSA to see it they can give the fundsto purchase a copy. When it was shown in DuPage it was obtained through the Library from anotherstate. The date could not be guaranteed.
