I P C S A B U S I N E S S M E E T I N G M I N U T E S C ON’ Tparticipation in this year’s vote and the election winners wereannounced:President Elect – Tracy Burke-Carrier, Bureau CountyStatewide Representative – Tim Shumaker, Coles,Cumberland and Edgar CountiesRegion 2 Representative – Ken Burn, Whiteside CountyDomestic Violence Committee: Chris English of St. ClairCounty advised there is very little activity with the group andthat they are seeking new chairs for the committee as well asactive participation from its members.Gender Response Committee: Rod Verdine has resignedhis position as co-chair and Joyce Ricci has replaced him.The committee met with Legislative Committee chairs todiscuss possible partnerships with legislative issues affectingthe Gender Response Committee. They anticipate collectingdonations in support of a local shelter for the SpringConference. The next meeting will be at the SpringConference 2013.Inter/Intrastate Committee: - Dave Beery advised thatwith currents concerns related to supervision fees ofjuveniles, there will be a meeting in the near future.Membership Committee: Mitch Goodwin advised that thecurrent membership for the Association is over 700 and newmembership for 2012 was 64. A goal of the committee is tocontinue to increase membership for the association.Officer Safety and Wellness Committee: Francie Cainthanked the membership for their participation in the surveythey conducted at conference. She advised 58 surveys werecompleted and returned. They continue to seek representationin the 1 st , 3 rd , 8 th , 9 th , 15 th , 17, 18 th and 21 st Circuits. Thenext meeting will be January 13, 2013 via a conference call.Pre-Trial Committee: The membership was advised thatthey continue to struggle with meeting regularly because ofincreased workloads and time constraints. However, thecommittee wishes to move forward and accomplish their goalwhich is to establish a uniform, statewide, evidence-basedrisk assessment tool (Virginia Pretrial Risk Assessment Tool)for all pretrial agencies. The committee continues stayabreast of current legislation that could affect theiroperations.Program Committee: The membership was thanked fortheir attendance at this year’s Fall Conference. Planning forthe 2013 Spring Conference has already begun and ideas,suggestions and comments were welcomed. The committeestill welcomes new members.Representative Committee: Tracy Burke-Carrierethanked all the committee members and encouraged themembership to get involved. She advised that as shesteps into the role of President Elect, the Board will beappointing a new Representative Chair to sit on theBoard.Resource Committee: This year’s Fall Conferencewelcomed 23 vendors. A Special Thank you was givento Scram and Goodin Associates for sponsoring the bagstournament; Rosecrance for sponsoring the New MemberReception, and to Arrowhead Ranch, BI, Chestnut HealthSystems and Siemen’s Diagnostics for sponsoring theconference breaks.Sex Offender Committee: The committee discussedupcoming laws going into effect 01/1/13, including the“Easter Bunny Law” and PA-97-1098 which is therestructuring of the SOMB. The next meeting will be inJanuary 2013.Substance Abuse Committee: Deb Norman advisedthat their committee had seven (7) members at theirconference meeting; they welcomed one new member.They proudly sponsored one training this conference andthey plan on sponsoring training at the upcoming springconference. Their silent auction raised $204 and $150was donated to The Carpenter’s Place, which is ahomeless day center. Additionally, they collected toiletriesand coats to be donated as well.Technology Committee: The Committee continues towork hard to keep the IPCSA website updated as well asthe Associations Facebook page. Pictures from themeetings and trainings will be added as well asemployment postings and training opportunities.Victims Concern Committee: Dan Smith advised thatthey have welcomed one new member.
